Dear Teachers
19:46Dear Teachers,
My name is Richelle and I have been in school for the past 11 years since I was 4 years old. Having been a student for this long I have grown to appreciate the hard work and effort you put in to your jobs to educate the future of your country. However they are some things you do that make the learning process less comfortable for your students and I am writing this letter to you to call you out on it.
Dear teachers I do not know whether or not you have been informed but as a student I do not only study the subject that you teach I study six(6) other subjects. Therefore I do not doubt that you will agree with me when I say that the massive load of homework that is not only unnessarily difficult but also unbearably tedious and has to be done in a short period of time is not only stressful but inhumane considering the fact that I, as a student, have the homework of other honorable teachers who themselves don't seem to grasp the concept of students having more than one subject to study and tend to. This in particular is for Mr. A who seems to have outrageous expectations of his students.
Dear Teachers, please do not say "come to me and ask me any question I don't bite" to then turn around when I, a student, asks you a question for you to then answer said question with a sarcastic, rude and simply inconsiderate remark. I mean considering that you have gone through, or rather SHOULD have gone through the necessary training that is required to be a teacher I would hope you know that some students can't handle sarcastic remarks after they ask a question in class. Think about it from that students perspective. A student who is generally shy and/or has social anxiety who spent the last five minutes mentally preparing themselves to ask a question because in the first place they didn't want to ask in fear of being humiliated finally builds up the courage to ask you the teacher whose job is to teach and assist students in their weak areas for you to then disregard their question as a stupid question, making their fear of being humiliated a reality. Then you, the same teacher who replies to students questions with snark remarks seem to wonder why some students don't understand and are afraid to ask a question. Ever thought maybe you aren't the most approachable teacher?
Dear Teachers, we are not your friends. We are your students. Please stop trying to be friends with your students because we are not interested in entertaining a conversation with a person who is in an entirely different generation than us with all the generation gaps in all of its glory. I am sorry Mr. Q but 12-18 year olds do not want to add you on their whatsapps although we appreciate the offer very much and appreciate your slightly queer yet clearly innocent intentions to just make friends with the cool and hip young kids, we would like to formally and politely decline your invitation.
And lastly I want to address this last student confession to the Principal, the head of all teachers, the rule maker, the punishment sharer and the disciplinary factor of the school.
Dear Principal/ Headmaster, Why must you be so strict? Have you forgotten that we are still children? I understand that we are considered "young adults" and you are trying to shape us into respectable citizens of our country but you can't possibly expect a meeting room of over 1000 students who happen to know each other and be close friends to be so quiet as to where you could hear a pin drop. I do understand that sometimes the noise can be a bit excessive however most of the times the noise level is pretty standard especially considering that when our schoo is compared to other schools on the island, we are far quieter and far more well behaved in comparison to the other schools. So I am pleading with you to lay off the strict rules sometimes. Also some of your rules are just plain ridiculous and do not make any sense whatsoever. For example you are telling us, the students of this school, that we must purchase a school wristband for $20 to then be prohibited from wearing said school wristband to school? What is the point Honourable Headmaster, of having a school wristband if we can't even fucking wear it to school. I don't know about you but that just seems like some bullshit and I apologize for my foul language.
Sincerely, A fed up student.
